While it shares the same 350mAh Li-Poly battery, the S12 Pro runs significantly hotter, reaching a max temperature of 58.7°C (137.66°F), which can be noticeably hot to the touch during sustained use. However, its immense value is undeniable, packing a multifunction COB side light and a true 365nanometer UV light. For users seeking maximum utility and brightness on a tight budget, the S12 Pro is an exceptional choice, provided you are mindful of its heat output on higher settings.

This provides more practical "throw" or reach than many flood-focused keychain lights, making it better for spotting objects at a modest distance. A standout feature for daily use is the excellent low mode, providing a genuinely useful 3.5 lumens for an extended 34 hours, perfect for up-close tasks without destroying night vision. While flashlight enthusiasts on social media often wish for a warmer emitter, the S12 Plus's functionality is hard to argue with. Users should be aware that on its highest settings, the lightweight body can reach a toasty 58.2°C (136.7°F). One drawback that I found is the weak magnetic tail for hands-free work, will not support the flashlight in a horizontal position. Powerbanks

Phones and Flashlights need power. Carrying a compact power bank is an essential item for your EDC kit. When considering a power bank for a mini EDC Kit, I’ve found that cylindrical banks can be rather bulky and the shape is not an efficient use of space. Because of this, I’ve migrated towards using flat, rectangular banks that are an efficient use of space. Here are three for you to consider..

Aluminum “Cargo Container” - For a Pocket Rack you will need a piece of rectangular aluminum tubing and two end plugs.  The tube will need to be cut to size. These are the end plugs they come in a set of 12pcs The plug size you will need is size - 15x25mm. This is the rectangular aluminum tube that you will need to cut to size with a hack saw. The size you will need is - 15mm X 25mm X 1mm wall thickness, Length 245mm length  ( .59” X 1” X .04”) Length 9.64”. This is 6063 Aluminum. You might be able to find it locally or online from another source. These dimensions work well with the Pocket Rack design. YOu just need to cut it to fit horizontally or vertically on your pocket rack. Prices have been all over the place lately. When I purchased it the price for the materials was quite reasonable on AliExpress. That no longer seems to be the case.

Thermal Camera

I’ve been playing around with this for several months now. I use it on a regular basis for testing flashlights to see if they exceed 111 °F which is the threshold for feeling a burning sensation when skin comes in contact with a flashlight. I’ve also found that there are quite a few little critters lurking in the bushes and shrubs around my house that I was not aware of. The thermal camera has no problem detecting them. Other applications that might be of interest include: 

• Finding the source of drafts and heat loss in a home.

• Locating water leaks

• Inspecting for little beasties lurking in the shadows

• Checking for electrical hot spots in household wiring that needs repair or replacement.

• Residual heat signatures left behind by a person or object.

This Nylon 12Gage Shotgun Shell Pouch Makes a great mini EDC pouch.-  I’ve been using these for several years now and have been very happy with the results. You can easily convert this to an EDC pouch by carefully cutting away the internal elastic bands with a craft blade. Self-amalgamating tape - I have 8” of it rolled up in the aluminum trunk of my pocket rack. Also known as self-fusing or self-vulcanizing tape, is a unique type of non-adhesive tape that creates a strong, permanent, and seamless bond with itself. Unlike regular tapes that rely on a sticky adhesive, this tape is made from a special rubber or silicone compound. Duct tape - When all else fails this stuff seems to get you out of many jams. I’ve got it wrapped around the BiC lighter in the kit and pull strips off as needed. $11.98
